We bought this to diagnose what was wrong with my car. It is awesome and it's controlled via blue tooth with a phone. This is a great way to find out what is wrong with your car prior to taking it a mechanic and if you want to fix it yourself.

So far so good. Not a ton of time with this product in my 2016 Chevy Colorado Duramax Diesel, but it was able to show some different real time stats the first time I rode around with it in my vehicle. Again, yes this does work with the '16 Colorado Diesel for all of you wondering.*EDIT*Was able to view and clear my first two fault codes on someones 98 Oldsmobile Eighty Eight perfectly fine. I think this thing is worth the money..

It worked much better after I paired it through the app as well as through the phones bluetooth (with pin, found in the products description). Other than that it worked, pulled the code then tested electricals and then sensors. Then I forgot to buy the part, but I currently think the stalling starts are because of a crankshaft position sensor which I had no idea existed until this thing pulled the codes. 10/10 I am not a licensed mechanic

Installed Torque Lite & it works. Torque Lite only gives you codes if you have any. I installed Car Scanner & that works great & will show a lot of real-time data & stats! Connected it to my 2019 Chevy Traverse & works great!

I heard lot of positive reviews about this device, but didn't work for me. It simply failed to work, every time I connected, it showed RED Light and the device never showed up on bluetooth search.Edit: I take back my words, This device is reliable and a good one. To my bad luck, my phone has problems with bluetooth, when tried with different android phone, bluetooth connected within seconds and torque app was reading all the data smoothly

I an using this with the Torque app to monitor the gauges in an EJ22 engine swap I did to a Subaru Brat. It is working like it should and it stays connected to my phone without issue. I would recommend this to you.
Snotrocket
Connected quickly to my phone running Torque on my Galaxy S8. Seemed to communicate quickly with the phone. It's very low profile and doesn't stick out from the OBD2 port like older/longer units.
Erica Rouse
My husband used this with his Google Pixel phone, and the software works great. It took a little bit to get the blue tooth to sync, but other than that, the UI for the device is very simple. He uses this all the time for diagnostics on his 2007 BMW 328i series.
Arabi
Used this many times, I couple it with the Torque pro app, its just simple to use, inexpensive. I leave it in my center console just in case there are any issues, also use it to monitor other issues like engine temp, vacuum, etc. Great for anyone who works on their car and doesn't want to buy a big expensive OBD II scanner for simple diagnoses and troubleshooting. It's built well too, it wont break on you.

Connected this to my car and it worked very nicely with any app from the play store. Displays car information and all definitions for the warning lights that might show up. Excellent price, excellent product, definitely recommend this.
Matthew McLeod
First time ever using a OBD2 scanner, works great.I wish the latency is lower, not sure if it's the device/phone's fault or that's only with Bluetooth OBDIIs (It's only about 100-300ms delay so not too bad)Bonus points for being my favorite color
john
it works. after many failed purchases with products that are DOA or connect but wont talk to the ECU, this thing fired right up and started talking to our app. and its compact so i am able to leave it in the car 24/7 without it sticking out and banging my knee on it. Able to verify emission checks and CEL codes with no issues.

Works well with Torque Lite right out of the box. I measured the current draw with the car off and got 36mA. It would be better if this was a bit lower. Also, the voltage measured by the adapter (not read from the ECM) is not that accurate.Nevertheless, since it works so seamlessly with Torque Lite and the price is so reasonable, I think it's a good buy.

This little gadget works great in my car. I love that it gives me the codes and then the option to search the internet on what the code means and the repairs. I can even sometimes get an idea of repair costs also or at the very least when I'm calling around I know what to ask for.
RpL
Displayed the trouble code with the explanation on my 2004 Tacoma using Torque Lite. There were no instructions in the box but Torque Lite connected without a problem and didn't require any fill in the blanks bs like the other program looking for a donation. Then, I went to the Play Store and installed a QR Reader, read the code on the box and the instructions recommended Torque Lite and are very good on line. Loss of star because it made me work but I got what I wanted.
benjamin eubank
Plugged into my 2002 Aztec, paired to my phone pulled the code, small emissions leak, hit clear, check engine light gone... For now. Works great. Use torque lite, get other info such as temp, rpm etc
Michael Budd
Like the title says, it's an awesome little tool for the price. Paired it to my phone and the Torque Pro app and have been using it as a boost gauge. Response time between the dongle and the app is fantastic. Great little device !
Brad
Connects via bluetooh right to my Note 4. I use it to use the Torque app I downloaded on my phone. I use it to get all sorts of nfo about my car while its running, which is 2013 ford fusion and I can check engine codes if somethings wrong. Can also re-set them with the app. Love the small size too, doesnt stick down far.
Bryson R.
Absolutely love it. I was able to use forscan to enable remote start, Bambi mode(fog lights on with the high beams on, and daytime running lights. I also disabled the hyperflash so I did not have to use resistors. Very easy to connect after I found out my laptop did not have Bluetooth I connected it to my dad's surface pro
Lee Johnson
My truck wasn't starting with out a sequence of this and that lever switch pushed pulled. Put this in and downloaded the app and the truck has not one time since failed to start. Coincidence not sure just a fact.
matt
It works great. Downloaded a free app on my phone and it was working perfectly right away. Cheaper and more convenient then a more traditional OBD reader. Would definitely recommend if you've been on the fence about trying it.

This thing saved my butt with my family in the motorhome. I got it just because I thought it was neat, but when my motorhome stalled out on a mountain road I was able to check the codes, and then clear them to take it out of limp mode and get us home. This unit paired with the torque lite app is a powerful troubleshooting tool that can tell you everything your car knows! Every sensor is available for real time monitoring and graphing. Absolutely great!
Gareth Hewes
Used this product in conjunction with Torque for Android. Allowed ECU reset while working on Smog check, and was able to diagnose catalytic converter was bad via O2 sensor readings.Of course, that's just one application...if you're looking for a reader for a custom on board management system and your car uses OBD2, I'd definitely recommend this. Well worth the low price!
John G.
Paired this with my Note 5 and used the Torque Lite app. Works great. I leave it plugged in and log my driving stats. More info than I really need. Nice to see my truck is running as it should. If you're thinking of buying this, do it. Can't beat the $13 price considering all the features you get.
Fritz23
This device was a life saver when my husband's truck had an error code that would govern his engine so he could barely drive his truck. The code had nothing to do with safety, just an emissions sensor that was bad. The dealership covered fixing the part, but we had to wait 2 months for the part to come in, without this little gadget, my husband's truck would have been pretty much worthless for two months.
AnonyMoose
Works well. Has LED's that let you know it's making good contact with your car's OBD port. Works well with 'Torque Lite'I'm comparing it to the one I replaced that had to be jiggled to properly connect, didn't give any feedback (no LED's) and didn't work well with android apps.
Razor
Works great. I use the 'car doctor' app because it's free and gives me all the same error code information and allows me to clear them if needing to see when they pop back up. Does MPG ratings on the fly and all that. It's an OBD adapter. Only gripe would be it doesn't stop drawing power if the car is off, so don't leave it plugged in and parked all the time.

I ordered this the other day and quickly received it. I'm not going to lie, I was a bit skeptical about these things but a friend and coworker used this specific one with his Android so I thought I'd give it a try.Within a few minutes of opening the package, I downloaded the (paid) app and headed to the garage. Initially I had some issues pairing it (my fault I think) but I used the Help button in the app and read the first few lines on their website/wiki page. A few minutes later I was reading codes and live streaming/scanning data. I was pretty blown away!I've got 8 vehicles total ranging from a 1938 Pontiac to a 2012 GMC Terrain, I drag race cars, build engines, restore cars, etc... and I usually use HP Tuners software on a laptop to scan and tune my late model GM LS vehicles. Needless to say, I'll be using this thing for basic logging and scanning instead of the laptop.I quickly paired this with my 2009 Pontiac G8 GT, 1999 Pontiac Trans Am, and my wife's 2012 GMC Terrain and it worked GREAT on all of them. Totally surprised! I was also impressed how quick it scanned. I canāt wait to datalog and also write a few custom PIDās for the vehicle I race.I'm hoping it will also work with my 2007 Silverado duramax as well. Not much else to say, I think I may order another one or 2 to throw in my other vehicles. Thanks! Absolutely love this thing i wish i had this years ago..A must have for everyone!!! You can use this in so many ways when using the right app.I use car doctor pro i can do everything from just engine checking codes and resetting too reading almost all parameters (fuel trims, MAF, MAP, IAT, CET, etc.) needed for diagnosing..Multiple parameter recording available for doing things such as volumetric efficiency test (bad maf sensor diagnostic) or just simple fuel economy levels..Ive diagnosed many problems and saved myself tons of money by having this!I can leave it plugged in to my car (hasnt been removed for months) and i always keep the bluetooth synced to my phone so all i have to do is connect through app in juat seconds..And for the price really only question is 'Why not!'

Product works as intended. It gives almost immediate live information to my phone via Bluetooth using the free version of the ODB Car Doctor app. I got it so I can check what my 2005 Honda Civic was shifting at because I have no tachometer in my car.Note to others, it takes a couple of minutes for my 2005 Honda Civic ECU to accept the device. Plugged the device into a mustang and it connect right away in seconds. SO, even if you think it might be broken, it could just be your ECU taking forever to accept the device.

This works just fine on my 2006 Suzuki Aerio, although installing it meant half-sitting/half-laying on the ground outside the open driver's door. Once it's plugged in, every app I put on my OnePlus One phone worked just fine with it. Easy to pair. I kind of really like the way they shipped it. There was one of those QR codes you could scan with your phone and it took you straight to well-written instructions and the app they recommend you use (I'm using a different one called CaroO). I wondered if I would be able to use my BT headset for calls and music while the phone was paired with OBD2 deviceā no problem at all. Very nice device.

Product works better than expected. Interfaced with phone and Torque app. It provides all the data that our Mazda3 provides to the OBDII. It's responsive and updates quickly. Reasonably priced, just plug it into the OBD port, turn on the bluetooth on your phone and it's communicating, The device is great. The most time consuming part is setting up the Torque display with the components you wish to display. The adapter is plug and play. Thanks so much. JK

excellent product. inexpensive I originally got one as a Christmas present and I consider it one of the best useful presents I ever got and it costs under $20, I bought extras so I can have it in all my cars. It gives you fault codes that you can google or youtube how to fix your car, Besides error codes there's lots of other info you can get. For example speedometer in one of my cars doesn't work, No problem it uses your phones GPS and gives you your speed. Or it can use what the vehicle says your speed is. It even can track your travel just like GPS does (but in doesn't give directions. It just maps your travel, Handy if you need to track miles for business.) Use the Torque app to connect to device using the phones blue tooth. Set up once and then it automatically connects when you open the torque app. One suggestion I have for the torque app is to have an alarm you can set when it goes over a set speed like 75MPH, it will beep.

It was very easy to install (just plug it in). I followed the given instructions, downloaded the app, paired the device with my phone and it immediately displayed information. It does it's job very well. I'm able to easily check for codes related to warning dash lights. I've then used the app and my phone to research the code. This is helpful with understanding the issue and taking the right course of action to resolve the issue. If I use a auto mechanic I have a better idea of what to expect after research the code. The device seems to always be running/on, even when the car is off. This hasn't caused an issue with my car battery and I assume it's drawing very little power. The recommended app is free, but contains ads. Other bluetooth/OBD2 apps seem to work as long as the device is already paired with the phone.
Dustin Miller
Easy to plug into my car and using the Torque (Lite) app, it's able to give me a read out of my current CELs and if I want I have created a 'page' in the app so that it mimics my dash gauge instruments (not that I need to). I leave it plugged in and haven't had any battery issues (as it draws so little power), but if your battery is on the older side, I'd probably unplug it when not in use. There are times when Torque doesn't pick up the scanner's signal, but usually unplugging it and plugging it back in after a moment does the trick. Very happy with the purchase for the amount I paid!
FreddyT
I purchased this to help with my Ford F-150 check engine light. It worked great for me but when we tried in a Saturn vehicle we had to cut out some of the dash plastic to make it fit. No need to buy an expensive reader tool or visit the local shop to read your codes. (Ford does not have a trick to read codes without a tool like some vehicles so this product was really helpful.) I would recommend this for anyone who likes to work on their own vehicles. A must have for your toolbox!
Benjamin D.
Works great, have prior experience with torque pro and itās worth its weight in Gold. Local shop charged me $50 dollars to tell me my catalytic converter was ready for an emissions test. California is garbage if they let Shopās get away with this stuff. Ran the test to I wonāt be having that problem again.
gtbuzz
Pretty easy to use, very quick install. The app is ok doesn't give all the details I would like but overall it did work. I had a check engine light come on and figured out what it was quickly with the car diagnostic. It also was easy to clear out the check engine light using the app. Overall, it does what it says and has good basic functionality.
scratchcampbell
Using it for the torque app to monitor and check the vitals of my 97 Tacoma and it works great. Not a lot of lag. Maybe a tad but not too bad. Reads a lot of different things on my truck. Also able to read trouble codes and clear them with ease.
MadSocial
A friend recommended this to me and now I'm recommending it to you. It's so easy to use in conjunction with the app. Does everything as listed. No issues so far. The paid app had more features. If you don't understand a code, it will take you to an external site that explains each code per manufacturer. I thought that was neat.

BETTER THAN THE EXPENSIVE ONES. WORKA AMAZING. I help out friends on their cars and work on my own if god forbid anything happens. I also help the gf and co-workers. Works as good as my uncles one for $100+. WORTH IT. I'VE HAD IT FOR A LONG TIME NOW. STILL WORKS. GET THE TORQUE APPS AND YOU CAN HAVE MORE FEATURES!!
R.G.
Works EXACTLY as intended with Torque Pro. Who would have thought that for less than $20, you can diagnose the check engine light in your car by yourself?! $12 for this thing and $5 for the Torque Pro app, and you're set to be your own mechanic. Absolutely amazing. Simple connection via Bluetooth, and simple usage.DISCLAIMER: If you're looking for a used car and you use this device to check for fault codes and Torque Pro says that it's not connected to the ECU, that means the ECU is probably damaged and the car needs a trip to the mechanic. The product has nothing wrong with it.

For the price, this is everything I want. It's tiny, so it can live on the ODBII port without removing it each time. It has a tiny status light to verify when it's on. Then for viewing the output I use the Torque android app. It reports and clears Check Engine Light codes, and reports various other data. I like exploring the data feeds while I'm the passenger. Now I've bought more for the other 'funreliable' cars in my extended family.
Wayne M. Vanweerthuizen
Mine works adequately, meaning I've tested it with a '98 Ford Taurus and it gave me meaningful data. I've tried two different free Android apps on my phone and two different free Windows apps on my laptop and in all four cases was able to connect over Bluetooth and retrieve data from the scanner just fine. The information I retrieved was limited, but I think that just because I was testing with an older car and I tested only with free software. With what I had, I was able to view just troubleshooting codes and a few items of basic data, such as engine RPM and temperature, but that was all I needed anyway.
Photog1500
This is the second one I purchased, after my son kept borrowing mine. The cost is incredibly low, the reliability is outstanding. I paired mine with torgue app amd absolutely use it daily.
MR.BEE
Best investment a person can make for their vehicle. Super easy to use with the torque app however that app could be easier to use not sure if they are the same company. I didn't even realize how much information you can get off of this example % of throttle or brake applied. I have helped others view their check engine issues
Prime Member 420
for what you pay for this and the app and everything it does. it pays for its self in the first month, I've had mine for almost a year and it still works like the day I bought it. and I've left it connected for weeks in my car. I've figured codes for all my friends, because you can web search the code right after you get it with the push of a button. I would definitely buy one again and plan on it if this one ever breaks. I'm going to buy another one either way.You can get live data as you drive, so you know what's going on with your car.

Absolutely worth it! The Check Engine light on my 1998 Ford Explorer came on and in the process of looking for a code reader I learned that there was an app (Torque Lite) for my Android phone that would pair with this device to translate my codes into useful detail about the issue. I immediately ordered and once installed and paired with my phone (be patient, it may take a few attempts at first) I had all I needed to find a YouTube video telling me what to look for to resolve the issue. Apparently, there is a very common issue where an air tube can be dislodged where it attaches to the air filter hose when a mechanic checks the air filter during an oil change. One look, and sure enough, it was disconnected, leading the computer to misinterpret the air supply for the fuel mixture. Reattached the hose and cleared the code and viola! Perfect working order for the price of this device!

I got this scanner for my 2012 Prius Plug-In and I'm happy to report that it works flawlessly with Torque Pro. Specifically, I wanted to be able to see the distance to empty and unlike my previous OBD2 scanner, this one can actually read the fuel level from the tank so the calculation is spot on and I don't have to manually reset the fill level when I go to the gas station (which is rare). This is a very modern OBD2 scanner that can pretty much read every sensor in my car so pulling health performance data is very accurate. Granted. My best 0-60 time is a lazy 16 seconds (you can start laughing here) but I'm averaging 61mpg (you can start crying here) so I guess it evens out in the end. This is a must have tool and at the current price, it is an unbeatable bargain.
UberTech
Bought this for my 2002 Acura RSX 5 speed. My Check engine light has been going on and off lately and I got tired of going to Autozone to check and see what codes it was throwing. The app I use is Torque Pro (Paid version of Torque Lite) and it works right away. It connects just fine and displays various info about your vehicle and if you have or had any CEL codes lately. Haven't tried clearing them yet as this is just an initial review. Will come back to update if anything arises.

Works well!. So far, I've used the Bluetooth OBD2 on a 2005 Mercedes Benz C230K and a 2011 Ford Focus. In both cases, the scanner connected to my Google Pixel (Android OS) phone easily. Using the torque app, I am able to monitor several aspects of the car including trouble codes, engine temperature, emission sensors readiness, and much more.Prior to this adapter, I used a $30 OBD2 traditional scanner that plugged into the OBD port with a cable. That scanner was clunky and had limited capability. With this Bluetooth scanner, I can tap into the cars computer system to gain much more information. For the price, this device provides good value. I highly recommend.
Piraha Mura
I paired it with two phones and they both can read from it. It works with Torque Lite/Pro and Triplog. I brought it with the sole purpose of not needing to enter the odometer reading manually whenever I refill gas. Then I discovered that there is no standard code for mileage. There is a non-standard code for distance since clear. The problem is, on the Toyota Prius, it's not the same as the mileage covered. It is certainly a linear relationship but as someone else found out, the y-intercept is non-zero and the slope is not one.Let me repeat that this guy works perfectly - it's the problem of the standard and the Prius implementation of the non-standard code. On Torque you can select the specific model of your car to add the manufacturer custom codes. I can't say I can read all those from the Prius but they seem to be available. My money is totally wasted for mileage reading but I'm glad for the price of this one. There is the mileage since oil change that might be usable.
motionmonk
Worked great out of the box with the Android apps Torque and DashCommand. I had others before this one, and for the price, it's a no brainer purchase.Be sure to NOT keep it in the ODB connector, since it WILL DRAIN the battery since it's an always on device. I do some autocross, so I like to data log my sessions, and have it connected via a 24in ODB extension cable. I can then tuck it into the door tray, and I always know to disconnect it after I'm done.
normw6
I purchased this item in August 2015. Less than a year later it is kaput. All I get from it is a red led, will no longer connect to the ECM. While it was working it worked well, never had a problem connecting, read codes, streamed data, cleared codes as advertised. Just wish it would have lasted longer. But, what would you expect for the price of a Whopper, Fry's and a Coke?I recently found that I recieved an email from the seller regarding this review telling me that I was mistaken thinking that my device was out of warranty and offering a replacement. I don't think a seller can do any more than that, so I am upgrading them to 5 stars from the original 2 stars.
Johnny
Functions as expected. I use this in conjunction with the Smart Control Pro/free app. I keep it plugged into the port and as soon as I turn the engine on its feeding me data. It gives me piece of mind.
Johnny
Low profile compared to my last adapter, but I feel like this one has some flaws/quirks compared to my last one. Sometimes if I turn off/start my truck multiple times in a short period of time my android head unit refuses to connect to this adapter, but the other didn't have this issue. Might have to play with the adapter settings in Torque Pro.
Truth C Ker
It's small which I like because I like to leave it in the socket to track any problems in live time or see my fuel mileage. That said, sometimes I have to unplug and replug it back in to get it to connect with my phone when I go to my car. This is a little annoying. Once connected it works very well with the Torque app that I use. Customer service is very good at communicating with you if there are any problems. When mine stopped working they sent out a new one with no hassles. All in all it is well worth the price.
Frank Fletes
I download the Torque APP for my android. It synced with it without any issues on a Galaxy S5. I am able to read and erased check engine codes with ease. It's funny. About a year ago I bought OBD2 OBDII reader from O'Reilly's auto parts. Paid about 240 dollars and for about 20 dollars for this and the paid app. I can do the same. Best part about it I can look up the codes right on my phone through the internet. The only way, I had to type in the code and do a google search. Another thing I like about this compared to my hand held one is that it uses the vehicles own power. The hand held one uses 2 AA batteries. When those are dead, I can't use the Code reader, not a problem with this one. Highly recommend this prodiuct and the Torque APP.
GuessWho530
I bought this for discreet use at auctions and or for easier carrying around at auctions.I've had it for a while now and it still works but recently its been telling me there's a device error every few mins of using it with the engine running and an established connection to the ECU with the Torque Pro App.Pros:Discreet and smallSo hidden, I keep on forgetting it inside the carCons:After about half a year to a years use its starting to throw error issues.
Ryan Robinson
I bought this to diagnose something in my 02 mustang and ended up not needing it for that. I did it the old fashioned way. However I did decide to try the Dash app in place of something like Automatic and I love it. Gives me stats on my driving, a bunch of extra gauges, and useful information on my vehicle and driving habits.Great service. In the beginning it occasionally lost connection with my phone but I'm convinced it wasn't the unit itself but my phone being wonky and in need of a factory refresh. After that it's been rock solid. Now to get more for the wife and kid to see how they fare on their driving scores, I'm a 93 consistently. Definitely going into my teens vehicle once that one starts driving.

I don't usually write reviews, but had to drop my opinion on this OBD II BT device. Very cool, works fine with my Nissan 350z. Shortly after I got it, my car threw a code. Got home checked it out, crank sensor is going out. Cleared the code, will have the car in for repairs in the morning. Graphical interface is very cool. Showed this to my stereo installer, he's going to put one in his King Ranch.

I purchased the recommended app on my phone and wow does this work on everything. I am talking everything here... I was at the auto parts store getting some washer fluid and they had that giant old school scanner hooked up and they couldn't some persons Diesel. So unplugged mine from my big truck and asked him if he wanted to use mine a minute. Worked like a charm. The real time stats work great. I enjoyed the O2 Level read outs to improve my gas millage and replace any O2 Sensors that were not keeping up. Kudos! Two thumbs up!
David Bordeaux
This product was easy to install, easy to sync up with my phone, and worked straight out of the box. while this product did have some latency in comparison to another product that I have by another manufacturer, this is a good one to choose if you want an affordable option to understand what is going on with your car. The car that I use this in was a 2009 Toyota Corolla.
LennyMatt
Works like a charm! I plugged the device into my 2008 Dodge Caliber, went through the Bluetooth pairing process and it worked immediately. It reads current fault codes, past fault codes, and current values of pretty much all sensors (speed, temperature, acceleration, etc.) Great little OBD2 reader!
Ernest Macinderm
This was a game changer for me. My truck was having a misfire, and instead of driving to the store to use their tester, I could just pull this out as soon as I stopped driving. I just keep it in all the time now. Ended up having a bad valve and had to pull the head. I don't think I'd have been able to diagnose it without this. Worth every penny.
JBakesUT
This has saved me hundreds of $. You will need a separate app (I use a free app called Torque Lite) to read and clear codes. It's fairly straightforward to use. Easy pairing and use with app. Recently saved over $400 by diagnosing my own issue on my BMW and doing the work myself.
Eric L. Keene
I got this unit and every time, it will connect correctly, let me see all the important sensons, the hybrid system (Prius), ABS, Transmission. It is a solid unit and can recommend it over all the other clones. Software confirmed it works with - ToyoSys, Hybrid Assistant, Car Scanner, & Dr. Prius. Dr. Prius app has a link that talks about all the clones, and units he has tested, and you should check it out.
mark yohpe
Worked great from the start. I downloaded the free OBD-II app onto my phone and plugged in the scanner. I am amazed how much information this thing gives you. Not just trouble codes, and the ability to reset them. Engine functions like RPM, MAP, temperatures of coolant and intake, load, even speed and acceleration. Just hit the link it gives you with any trouble code, and it goes to the internet where descriptions and service information are right there to see! I wish I had gotten this thing long ago. It's easy to use and really cheap. Highly recommended!
